Task:To improve the quality of education, people think that we should encourage our students to evaluate and criticize their teachers. Others believe that it will result in a loss of respect and discipline in the classroom. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. Sample answer: Nowadays, whether evaluating and criticising teachers should be supported in the classroom has become a controversial issue. From my perspective, evaluation and criticism of teachers are necessary for the improvement of education if they are objective and reasonable. On the one hand, proposing changes to teachers’ lesson content contributes to the improvement of teaching quality. Usually, it is difficult for teachers to realise the mistakes and slips in their teaching unless students remind them. Additionally, teachers may not clearly know what students have known and want to know when planning their lessons. If students can put forward their ideas and suggestions towards the lesson, it will be ofgreat help for teachers to upgrade the teaching projects. Moreover, trying to evaluate teachers’ lesson is particularly beneficial for students’ academic and career development in the future. The modern education emphasises criticism and innovation. Undoubtedly, it is an effective way for students to debate or discuss with teachers. On the other hand, the disruptive students will probably disturb the class and negatively affect both teaching and learning outcomes. When students voice their opinions in the classroom, it will be hard to maintain the order and discipline and the teachers may feel disrespected. Also, students will suffer a loss in terms of knowledge and other learning content. This is because teachers always devote much to delivering knowledge and explaining theories. If they are disrupted, the teaching plan may not be able to be fulfilled. As a result, both teachers and students have to face a loss in the quality of education. To sum up, it can be recommended that students evaluate and criticise teachers in the classroom on the premise that they have decent manners without disturbing the learning atmosphere. Only in this way will teachers and students achieve a win-win outcome in education.

Task:Some people think vertical city, where people live and work in high buildings is the best. Others think horizontal city is better, where there are few tall buildings. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. When it comes to the issue about city layout, some people may argue that filling a city with tall buildings is an optimal choice while others believe that there should not be so many skyscrapers in a city. On the one hand, a city full of tall buildings may have more development opportunities. It is acknowledged that high-rise buildings mean a higher spatial efficiency because those buildings could accommodate more enterprises. Then, some industrial zones or central business districts may be constructed, contributing to more working opportunities. Thus, a vertical city full of tall buildings actually has huge economic potential. On the other hand, residents may have a stronger sense of community if there are not so many high-rises. When people reside in tall buildings, they do not communicate with neighbors frequently. However, if there were many low-rise buildings, residents would be more likely to meet neighbors in public areas like parks where they could communicate mutually or do exercise together, but not just take an elevator to their floors and live a lonely life. Then, residents may not be so indifferent to others and harmonious communities could be established. From my own perspective, vertical cities and horizontal cities have different characteristics and the key question is what kind of life one pursues. Providing that a person is ambitious to fulfill his/her life target, a vertical city may be a suitable choice because of more working opportunities there. In addition, citizens who want a higher life quality should choose to live in vertical cities since more services and high-tech products could be provided by enterprises. However, if a person prefers a quiet life, dwelling in a horizontal city should be his/her first choice since the pace of life is slow and leisurely.
Space travel has been possible for some time and some people think space tourism could be developed in the future. To what extent do you think this is a positive or negative development? 范文 As we all know, people are always curious about space and expecting to travel in space. Now, inspired by space technology, some ambitious explorers have extended their eyes beyond the earth. But there are still a few key problems which may prevent space travel from becoming a reality. So I'm holding a negative view on the future of space travel. In modern society, some businessmen have built numerous tourist sites for economic benefits, considering little of the ecological balance, so that a lot of damages have been done to the natural environment. Now, universe, a kind of new resource in some people’s eyes, has great potential benefits especially in terms of space tourism, which will certainly attract many profit-seeking businessmen. Yet if the space travel is developed on a large scale before we have gained a full understanding of the universe, the ecology of the universe will be seriously upset. Then what is at stake will not be one or two tourist sites, but the entire earth. As space tourism has just started recently, the security issues of space flight should also be taken into consideration. In the space travel, the tourists must be able to withstand the unbearable loud noise, the overwhelming vibration, the strong radiation, the physiological effect of weightlessness, to mention just a few. However, the current science and technology cannot guarantee everything is without risk. Therefore, space tourism may pose great pressure on people’s health. Moreover, ordinary passengers are not possibly trained as astronauts, so psychologically and physiologically, they may not be suitable to do space travelling. To sum up, space travel is detrimental to the universe environment and may have a lot of risks out of our control, so basically I hold a negative view on its future. I think space travel is possible only when we have a better understanding of the universe and meanwhile a strong technological support.
2017雅思口语范文:a shop you like to go to
Describe a shop you like to go to. what shop it is what it sells (or, what you usually buy there) when you first started going to this shop (or, how you came to know about this shop) and explain why you like (to go to) this shop. Well, it took me a few moments to decide on which shop to talk about, because I actually like going to quite a number of different shops around my hometown, but possibly my favourite is HM, so that's the one I'm gonna describe. Firstly then, with regard to what it sells, well I'm not sure if you're familiar with HM, but it's basically a mid-end clothes shop which sells a variety of women's and men's clothing, mostly geared towards young adults like myself. And as well as clothing, the shop also has a small accessories section for women, with things like hair bands, bracelets and earrings, but the main focus is definitely on clothes. Anyway, as for when I first started going to this shop, well to be totally honest with you, I'm really not that sure, but off the top of my head, I guess I must have first started shopping there two or three years ago, round about the time I was in high school, because I seem to vaguely remember one of my high-school classmates telling me about it, and how good it was. So that's kind of how I got to know about HM, and finally, regarding why I like shopping there, well I suppose it's really a combination of reasons, one of which would be that the clothes there, on the whole, tend to be quite fashionable and trendy, unlike the stuff I see in many other shops, and the clothes are pretty simple in style, which is exactly what I like. So that's one thing, and I guess another reason would be that everything there is really good-value, and just to give you an example, a decent pair of jeans there costs around three hundred yuan, whereas a similar pair at another shop would probably set you back a thousand yuan or so, and in terms of quality, well, there's really not that much difference between HM's clothes and the higher-end brands, but you're paying considerably less. So yeah, I would say these are, more or less, the main reasons why I like shopping there, and I would probably go so far as saying it's become one of the most popular clothes shops here in my hometown, and I just hope they continue to keep their prices as low as they are! That's pretty much it then, so thanks for listening.
